Marva M. Robinson

Marva M. Robinson is a Doctoral Student in Clinical Psychology, specializing in forensic and child psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Marva was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. Focusing on mentoring our youth, Marva currently mentors several graduate, undergraduate, and high school students, making sure that they understand the power of higher education while helping their parents to navigate the system.

Currently, Marva is completing her internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), where she is a child psychology intern impacting the lives of impoverished minority families in Newark, New Jersey.

Marva’s current research interests are in the areas of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in juvenile females, and the impact of father involvement in clinical treatment. She has had the opportunity to present at the annual APA conference, The Florida Psychological Association’s annual conference, and at the University of Medicine and Dentistry’s University Behavioral Health Care Department.

Marva joined ABPsi's South Florida Chapter in 2004-2005 under the leadership of Dr. Pamela Hall, whom is the current executive board Secretary, and Dr. Dorothy Holmes whom is being installed as this years Chair.

Marva has held such esteemed leadership positions, such as student President for the South Florida’s ABPsi Chapter, President of the Ethnic Minority Association of Graduate Students, Student Representative for APA’s Division 45 Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues, and Recruitment Co-Chair for the Florida Psychological Association, and many more.

Marva believes that if the transition from student to profession is nurtured it will strengthen the foundation of the Association of Black Psychologist.
