Eastern Regional Rep:

Jemeg Dees

My name is Jemeg Dees and I am the Eastern Region Graduate Representative and I would like to briefly introduce myself. I received my Bachelors from the Univ. of NC at Greensboro, where I majored in psychology and minored in business. I obtained my Master’s Degree from Virginia Tech, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy. I also completed a yearlong internship working with individuals in the military as well as their families. Currently I am a second year Counseling Psychology doctoral student at Howard University. My research interests include professional athletes and their families, African American families & couples, and domestic violence.

My role as Eastern Region Rep is to speak for the interests of student members in the Eastern Region. Furthermore I aim to assist and encourage student planning of regional conferences and workshops in the region. My vision includes an Eastern Region Conference that would have space for students and professionals to come together share, learn, and be encouraged. I envision a space where students as well as professionals present research, share their ideas, and make connections with one another. As Eastern Region Rep my goal is to increase student participation and presence in ABPsi. My vision for the students of the Eastern Region is to have an open line of communication to professionals in the field. I hope to be a liaison between the students and the professionals in the region.
