Strategic Planning Committee Chair:

Nedra H. Francis

Hello All,

My name is Nedra H. Francis and I am the Student Circle Strategic Planning Chair for the Association of Black Psychologists Student Circle (ABPsi). I am a graduate student of Prairie View A&M University, pursuing a Ph. D. in Clinical Adolescent Psychology within the College of Juvenile Justice and Psychology, Prairie View, Texas. I have worked in the field of psychology for several years in various capacities. I am licensed as a psychological associate (LPA) and specialist in school psychology (LSSP) by the State of Texas. Before returning to graduate school, I was (and am) an active participant in the Houston Chapter of the Association of Black Psychologists where I have served in the offices of President, Secretary, and Treasurer. My most recent assignment was chair of the registration committee for the 39th Annual International Convention held in Houston, Texas, August 2007.

As chair of the Student Circle Strategic Planning committee my primary responsibility is to assist the ABPsi Strategic Planning Committee with developing a variety of novel ideas that will help improve the organizations fulfillment of its stated mission:

“The Association of Black Psychologists’ mission is the liberation of the African Mind, empowerment of the African Character, and enlivenment and illumination of the African Spirit.”

This task, although great, is achievable by the cooperation and culmination of great minds that are presently a part of the ABPSI, in particular the student circle. We are the future of this organization and must step forward into the tremendous legacy which has been set before us by our predecessors. We must follow the mission, we must fulfill the mission, and we must live the mission!!!

If you are ready to take on this immense challenge, please don’t hesitate to contact me at spspc@abpsi.org for more information. Place action behind your interest and volunteer as a committee member of the Student Circle Strategic Planning Committee.
