Promoting and advancing the profession of
African/Black Psychology

Provides an in-depth understanding of PanAfrican/Black Psychology in African-centered conceptualizations, assessments, and diagnostics to prepare mental health professionals to use culturally appropriate, African-Centered skills in teaching, research, clinical practice, and community programming.

Promoting optimal wellness and healing, and assisting in solving problems for Black communities in
Africa and the African Diaspora

Provides cultural grounding to Black folks by hosting courageous healing conversations that address the coronavirus pandemic that has further exacerbated the on-going racial stress and systemic oppression that many Black communities have been contending with for centuries.

Influencing and affecting social change

School District Consultation

Provides consultation and training programs on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for K-12 school systems in the service of creating healthy and holistic culturally affirming educational spaces.

Organizational Consultation

The ABPsi provides consultation and training to corporate and organizational clients on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Racial and Social Justice, in the service of dismantling institutional racism and harm.

Recognizing exemplary African/Black psychology scholarship and service to the Black community

National Convention

Annual international convention where practitioners and scholars assemble to honor, support, empower, share, and grow in their capacity to improve the well-being of African/Black people and communities.

Scholarships and Awards

Acknowledges, lifts up, and promotes those whose scholarship or service improves the interest of African/Black people and communities.

Jegnaship and training of each generation of Black/African psychologists, mental health, and wellness scholars and practitioners

Jegnaship

Continues the legacy of African/Black psychology through the intergenerational sharing of knowledge between senior and seasoned Black psychologists and earlier career Black psychologists.

Emotional Emancipation Circles

Emotional Emancipation Circles were originated by Community Healing Network, and developed in collaboration with The Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi), EECs are liberatory spaces in which Black people share stories to deepen our understanding of self-worth, our relationships, and our communities.
